... Since I last blogged! Thought I'd give those of you who care to read my blog somewhat of an update, especially with the move from Propaganda to Betsafe :)

To start things off, I want to mention that I was somewhat breakeven on Propaganda. I think I was doing well at the micros (NL2/NL4), I wasn't crushing the limits but playing well enough that I believe my BR would've been going up at some point. I ran pretty bad (with my EV to Real winnings gap being roughly 50% of my roll after 20k hands!), which also made me play worse, regardless of whether or not I would admit it at the time. My BR did grow, mostly through the VIP program bonuses, the Ballerpoker bonus being unlocked through FPPs and some small MTT cashes (after I cleared my bonus). On top of this, I had financial issues in real life at the time, which had 2 consequences I think affected my play. Firstly I would get alot more emotionnal about bad beats, frustrated that luck overcame skill so often, at a moment where I could've used some results or at least known that my BR was growing and I was on the way to higher stakes. Secondly, I experienced computer problems and being so tight on cash at the time, had to do without a computer for roughly 2 months (late June to mid-Aug).

When I came back, I quit Titan for good (I used to play MTTs there) and decided to focus on Propa, playing the occasionnal MTT on there (vs playing on titan). I did decently and boosted my BR close to 200$ but in the long run ran pretty even, spending almost as much in MTT buy-ins as I would end up winning when I did cash. On the cashgame side I didn't play nearly as much as I did prior to the 2 months break and was almost completely inactive during the last 2 weeks before the move to Betsafe. Part of the reason for that was the beginning of this semester in Uni, along with my involvement with the organization of a major LAN event in Canada. I wasn't as motivated either, it wasn't my love for the game fading, I doubt that it'll ever go away, but I had just spent so much time without being able to play online and had so much else to do that I just barely played.

Still, throughout this inactivity, I kept up with BP, LP, 2p2 and the poker scene in general, read about the game/watched coaching vids. About a week and a half ago, I hear of the whole IPN/PP situation and eventually of the buyout of Propaganda by Betsafe and just naturally started putting some hands in, trying to integrate at least an hour or two of grinding into my daily routine.

As my account was moved, I decided to purchase HEM (Yes, I used an old not-so-legit version before), partly because I always wanted to get a real serial anyways (the software is definatly worth it) and because the older HEM versions don't support Betsafe anyways. This also meant I had to create a new DB, so I backed up all my Propa hands (about 30k) and decided that I'd start a fresh sample, playing more seriously, spewing less (no more calling to prove "my read that I was beat" right). At the time of the move, my Propa BR was 61$, which also meant I'd have to play outside of the rules of bankroll management for a while (6buy-ins lol, pray for no doomswitch!) Luckily I started on a decent heater, ran into some bad luck after bragging about how hot I was running (thank you, Karma, for reminding me to keep my mouth shut), bad luck made me play less-than-optimally which ended a session with -2BI (albeit at some point I hit -4BI and actually finished w/ 0.5BI EV adj).

As for today, I can't complain! Early bad luck as I lost a big 3 way all-in on the flop w/ set against a runner runner flush, got a little pissy but managed to keep tilt-free and actually ended up bulldozing the 4 tables I played on, finishing up a little over 3BI (which is huge for me considering NL10 is way over my roll). Just to give you an idea, I ran 110BB/100 today :)

Graph so far, ~2500 hands:

Report so far, same sample:

Hope you guys are running as good right now :)
Cya on the tables!

keep it up! nl10 winning must seem huge to you haha, i can imagine that :D I started adding some nl50 tables and after winning one buyin, im like "omg that's 50$!" :D

and also, you shouldn't play, if you're really having money problems... I've been in this situation a lot of times before. It tilts you so much, you can't make good plays. Or you have to learn how to not treat your BR as money. Treat it like some points/exp for next lvl lol :D

Those financial issues are behind now, and I can feel it in my play. I'm alot more relaxed, I take beats on the chin like a champ and I've been pretty patient.

Never play outside your bankroll.

Im in the same position as you really, i dont have the bankroll for NL10 but since it was the lowest stake i thought id take a shot. I've lost 3 BIs and its just not worth it mate. In general ive played pretty solid but all 3 losses have been me shoving preflop with AK and KK and being called by AT twice and AJ once, all 3 times losing and its like "shit, i just lost $30 in 20minutes". My bankroll cant take the swings so im just gona have to look elsewhere to play cash from now on i think, which is a shame since propagandas loyalty bonuses were fantastic! The fact your running at 110bb/100 just goes to show how much of an upswing your on --- the doomswitch is coming.

Shots are bad, BRM is good.

Sorry to hear about the bad run, I know how it feels, I went busto using a promotion similar to BP before, even though I played pretty decent (actually, twice, first on Party, then on Stars)

Actually I've played another cashgame session after this blog, along with a 1.2k Rebuy (1.20$ BI), up 2 BI in that session, along with cashing (44/531) on the MTT, I now have 15 BI for NL10, which isn't THAT risky if I can keep away from tilt.

I know I'm running on a sick heater (although I only ran 110bb/100 today, not overall on the 2.5k hands) but if I can ride it to a point where I'm rolled for NL10, I'll already be there and somewhat crushing the limits, which gives me a decent shot at grinding my BR for NL20 without having to move down (which I couldnt anyways).

There's a chance I'll get screwed but I don't feel like cashing out and depositing at this point, and I'm absolutely loving the fact that Ongame's software tilts the regs away. Half the tables are made up of juicy fish at NL10 it seems, and I'm guessing it should be similar at NL20.

Never posting results again.

As soon as this blog was posted, I haven't scored a single winning session.

Well, 3/4 are massively up in the EV column. But actual winnings wise, I'm down .... ALOT.

Prly gonna go broke again, most likely gonna quit poker for good this time, no point in grinding micros, all it's ever brought me is a feeling of hopelessness as I see all of my chances of making it fade with every beat on the river.

I used to think skill was 90% of poker, vs 10% for luck. I realize now that the 90% is fucking irrelevent if you have none of the luck working for you.
