Group Lesson

19 Jun at 18:16 CET by James

I will be giving a long time student a lesson at 200nl SH on Full Tilt Poker and if a couple Ballerpoker members are interested they can sit in the lesson. They can ask questions, just watch it or even record it if they know how. I will also field questions for IMs or discussion at the end of the lesson in case you don't feel comfortable enough asking during the lesson. So post in this thread if you would like to sign up and we can work out a time. So far BERN is in so a couple more spots are available.

Twisted put out a new article based on betsizing and potentially barreling in 3bet pots. The article looks at some different board textures and even potential bluffs. This article can be found in the 'Articles' Section. Remember you can post away questions or your thoughts on the article page and we will respond.

I have done a member analysis for Thunder but was unable to format his video with voice over. So I have posted a link to his video and my comments with appropriate times. That way anyone who watches the video can check the times and comments as the hands happen. This can be found in the 'Coach' Forum.

gl at the tables and keep posting!

Kalle wins LAPT Punta del este

20 Mar at 23:58 CET by Twisted

At the start of the final table Kalle was already the chipleader after knocking out players left and right in day two of the tournament. Dominating the play after the bubble with part awesome poker skills, part luckbox polishing and part being Scandinavian, he demonstrated the sickest domination ever witnessed on a tournament of this size. His day of reckoning started off slow but as the day progressed the Norwegian stallion completely ran over the rest of the final table.

The final table chip counts stacked up as follows:
Seat 1: Andre Ventura 103,000
Seat 2: Oliver Rowe 412,000
Seat 3: Bolivar Palacios 167,000
Seat 4: Waldemar Cago 263,000
Seat 5: Karl Hevroy 1,079,000
Seat 6: Magno Aragao 153,000
Seat 7: Angel Guillen 572,000
Seat 8: Alejandro De Arruabarrena 397,000
Seat 9: Ron Wasiel 134,000

First out of the tournament was Andre Ventura when he lost JJ against QQ preflop against Oliver Rowe. The crowd was cheering for a jack but to no avail as the board blanked out and Andre Ventura was the 9th place finisher taking down $21,000.

The next player to fall was Magno Aragao who got it in preflop with QQ with only 30,000 chips left in his stack. Unfortunately he lost to the TJ of Oliver Rowe who hit a runner runner straight. Magno Aragao takes down $26,640.

Going into the final table as a strong chipleader Kalle managed to build up his stack by being aggressive and taking down a bunch of pots. There was a small dip in Kalle's stack when he tried to double-barrel Angel Guillén (picture on the right) off his hand on a Qd-2d-6h 3c 9d board only to be called twice by 86. As mentioned, Kalle started off slow at this final table but managed to retain his chiplead while other players were getting knocked out!

Seventh place finisher was Bolivar Palacios who lost a classic coinflip when he got it in with QQ against the AK of Alejandro De Arruabarrena. The board looked good until the river: 5d-4h-4s-7c-Kd.

Around 30 minutes later we finally saw some action involving Kalle again. Hitting trips with AJ he took down a good sized pot against Angel Guillén.

Waldemar Cogo was the sixth place finisher taking down $48,840. After doubling up a few times, he couldn't manage to suck out this time when he got it in preflop with Kh-3s against the Ks-7h from Oliver Rowe.

After the next break the diesel engine named Kalle started picking up pace. In one of the worst suckouts ever witnessed he managed to take down Oliver Rowe. On a flop of Js-9s-3h Kalle called a 50,000 chips bet with a gutshot and two overcards with KQ. On the turn however, the worst card for Kalle came up, the Kd. Considering the blinds were already very big compared to the stacksizes, Kalle found no other play than to get it in after Oliver bet 115,000 chips. Oliver called quickly and showed a set of 3's. Fortune is on Kalle's side though as he rivered the much needed Th giving him the king high straight! Oliver Rowe can't believe his eyes as he closes them in disbelief. Kalle can't believe his luck and stacks up his newfound wealth at the final table, pushing his chiplead further and further.

Next one to get in the way of Kalle was Ron Wasiel who got it in with Js-9c against Kalle's JJ on a board of TT9. Drawing dead to two nines, he couldn't catch up and Kalle again extended his chiplead. Ron Wasiel goes back to Chicago with a fourth place finish and $82,160 under his belt.

Angel Guillen
Suddenly in a flash it was three handed and that didn't last long either. Angel Guillen who had been doing well over the entire day was also gobbled up by Kalle's luckbox. Opening from the button with Ac-Jh he got three-bet by Kalle who held As-Tc. Angel did the only logical thing when it's three handed: go all-in. Dominating Kalle things looked good for him but when the flop came Qd-Ts-6c, he was suddenly drawing thin. A king or a jack would save his tournament life but it was not meant to be. The board blanked out and Angel Guillen takes down third place and a handsome sum of $99,120. Keeping his composure backed by some of his friends he leaves the final table hopefully happy about his finish.

Heads-up started after the dinner break with Kalle being a massive chipleader. The chipcounts were as follows:

Karl Hevroy -- 2,927,000
Alejandro De Arruabarrena --543,000

Being a six to one chipleader, things couldn't go wrong for Kalle. In fact, he only needed one hand to take it down! Alejandro De Arruabarrena completed in the small blind and Kalle checked with 98. The flop must have put a smile on his face if this was played online. The flop came down 998 and he let his opponent do the betting. They got it allin on the turn and Alejandro De Arruabarrena was drawing dead with QJ. Kalle leapt out of his chair leaving behind the bewildered Alejandro to cheer his victory with his friends from Ballerpoker.la.
Alejandro De Arruabarrena has to be content though with his performance. For his troubles he takes down $155,420. Kalle however takes down the coveted throphy and a prize of $283,500!

You can be sure that some epic partying will ensue. Ballerpoker was well represented in the tournament and at the final table rail so stay tuned for some epic party stories from the Ballerpoker crew currently in Uruguay.

Kalleftw

Congratulations Kalle!
